Look At What I Made

Oh this past week has been a trying one.

My husband had an abscess on his neck and had to have it cut out. He's been on some major antibiotics and pain killers. I had to clean his wound and drive him around for a day or two. He's doing better now.

I did something to my hip. I've been taking Advil like candy all week. Finally, I went to a chiropractor on Friday. He told me he thinks I sprained my left hip joint. He worked his magic and I feel a lot better.  Still sore, but my hip feels a lot better.

Ethan came home on Thursday with a pink slip. If you don't know what a pink slip is, it's basically a write up. He apparently called some in the bus line a "Fat Bucktooth". Real smooth, Ethan.

So, it's been a trying week.

On a brighter note,  my parents came back from vacation and brought me this!!!!!!! I big puffy heart this purse!

We had another bake-off at work. Last time, it was banana bread and I won. This time was pie. I decided to make an apple pie.

Here it is before I left for work.

We also had a smores pie and a different version of apple pie. And guess who won? Me!!!!

I finally broke down and made Emily a bow holder. Her bows were everywhere. I have been looking at some on Pinterest, trying to get some ideas. I had recently taken down some pictures in Emily's room that had been in her nursery. The frames were pink and blue.

I took out the backing, the picture and the glass. I bought some ribbon and hot glued  it to the back of the frame. I found two flowers from the craft department at Walmart, and added them.

Here's a before and after.

Here they are, on the wall.
Lastly, our football team had their homecoming on Friday. I decided to make Emily a homecoming mum. I did things backwards. I first went to Hobby Lobby, bought some mum stuff and then came home and watched a Youtube video on how to make one. But it all worked out.

Here's the finished project.

With all these crazy things going on, I have felt so close with God. He has been with me all week, guiding me and giving me strength. I am so grateful for his love, mercy and faithfulness in a crazy, hectic and painful week.

Show Us Your Life - Singles Link Up

Today I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner. It's Show Us Your Singles time, and when I first read that it's was coming up, I immediately thought of my beautiful work friend. I asked, she totally gave me her permission, and I'm very excited about this.

So here is my beautiful friend, Arielle. We work together at the sheriff's office. Here's a few facts about her.

She's 25 and lives here in central Texas, near the Austin area.

Arielle is sweet, funny, smart, outgoing and has a wonderful personality.

She loves gummy bears, and this girl and cook. She is an amazing baker.  And as a true Texan, she loves the Texas Aggies and... guns.

She's very close with her family and loves to spoil her nieces and nephew. On a personal note, I would like her to find someone who would encourage her to do what she loves to do and to follow her dreams.

So tell your single brothers, sons, cousins, friends, etc. And, if you'd like to know more about Arielle, just leave me a comment with your email, blog address or link to your facebook!

Thanks, Jennifer

Friday Night Lights

Here in Texas, we have a tradition that comes every Friday night, starting around the end of August. And it just aint right if you don't participate. We live in a small town, so the majority of the people show up.

This night was extra special, because my Emily participated.

What is it? High School Football! Of course!

High school football in Texas is a way of life.

And our town is no different. I think the whole town came out for the first game of the season. It was seriously crowded.

But my mind & my eyes weren't on the game.

They were on this little cheerleader.

Emily went to a Spirit Maker camp this summer where the Middle School & High School cheerleaders taught all the little Spirit Makers cheers and dances. Best part, the little girls get to cheer at a home game.

Patiently waiting for the game to start.

Even Ethan was excited about the game.

Emily did a great job.

After the game, we went to Dairy Queen for some sweet treats. And...

A little goofiness.

This was my mint chocolate chip shake.

We all had a good time. Emily was so cute and she had such a good time, she was in a silly mood the rest of the night.

What made this even more special was when Emily told me sometimes she forgets a cheer, but she prays and God helps her remember the cheers. Oh, this mamma is so proud!

And... I have to brag on Ethan. He got an excellent in his behavior in school for the past two weeks. One of his teachers stopped Mark and told him how good Ethan has been in school so far,  he has been doing good with his work and has some good decisions. Believe me when I tell you I was on cloud nine the rest of the day.
