Mark, Jennifer, Ethan, Emily

This blog is about our family, who have dealt with the loss of two sons with Muscular Dystrophy, the adoption of a son diagnosed with Agenesis of Corpus Callosum and the birth our a healthy little girl. It's a crazy life, but we are loving it.

Summer Wrap Up

August is almost over and school is starting! Where did the summer go?

This summer...

Ethan spent a week at church camp and loved every minute of it. It was a whole 6 days away, but he did great.

Emily spent 3 days camping with her best friend Emma at the lake.

Did you know August his national Eye Exam Month? Did  you celebrate? We celebrated all up in my house.

Ethan was complaining about his eyes hurting, so I took him to the eye doc.

Holy Handsome, Batman! I told him he'll be fighting the girls off with a stick. These glasses make him look super handsome.

My babe also got new glasses.

My ladybug turned 7!

And the craziest of all, we got a cat!

I am not a pet person. I really don't care for pets and cats were last on my list. Ok, not last, last, but pretty close. I won't do pet snakes or spiders or lizards or any of those hot messes.

I always thought cats had an attitude.
Mark wanted to get the kids a pet because they have been begging for so long. I didn't want a puppy or a kitten because nobody is home during the day. I don't need a puppy chewing up my furniture or a kitten climbing my curtains. But I told Mark if he could find a cat that was de-clawed, litter box trained and good with kids, then I would consider it.

Well, last Friday the kids found this...

I couldn't get a picture of her looking at me, but she's cute. She's grey and has white hair above her eyes like eyebrows. Her name is Tazz, aka Tazzy Cat. She's gentle, loving and sweet with the kids. And I never thought I would say this, but I like her.

Let's hope it stays that way and doesn't turn into this.

School started today. Here's a sneek peek from this morning.

Emily's 7th Birthday

My little one turned 7 last week.

Don't mind the tattoo. Why do little ones like these things?

Anyway, her birthday was on a weekday, so Ethan, Emily and I celebrated with dessert at Dairy Queen.

Only I was the only one to get ice cream. I got a shake. A mint chocolate chip shake. Yummy! They did not pay me to say that, but they should!

Emily wanted a smoothie and Ethan a slushy.

Cheers to the 7 year old.

This year Emily wanted her party at the local skating rink. I was secretly super excited. It's hard to host a party and keep the kids occupied and take pictures and set out food and yada, yada, yada. This year it was "put on your skates and go for it. I'll call  you when it's time for cake!"

She looks really intense blowing out her candle. She said she wished for an iphone! Keeping wishing 7 year old!

Here are the cookies I made!

The colors I used were pink and zebra stripes.

I made strawberry and chocolate Muddy Buddies for the party goody bags.

It was a success. They kids loved it and Emily was beaming all day. And best of all, no decorating worries and easy clean up! Just add pizza and *wham*, successful party!

Happy 7th Birthday Baby Girl! We love you!

My sentiments exactly!

Movies And A New Wardrobe

Every summer our little town has a few nights where they have movies in the park.

I have never been.

I know.

But wait, I decided to bite the bullet, get out of my shell and live a little.

And I enjoyed it! So did the kids.

I didn't know just when "dusk" was, so we got their a little early. By early I mean about an hour.

But now I know.

And... my kids had a blast. Emily played at the playground. Ethan walked around and explored.

I decided to stick it to the man by bringing our own popcorn, drinks and snacks. I'm cheap frugal like that!

Handsome Ethan.

Beautiful Emily.

Me and my ladybug.

We saw Kicking & Screaming. Will Ferrell = Hilarious!

I also have been eying a wardrobe at a local antique store. The price was marked $135. I offered $115 and the owner asked me if it was for my daughter, who was with me and I said yes. He said he would take $110 because she was too cute. Score!

It was painted  black, then pink and distressed. I love it!

I think I'll take Emily next time I go back to the store looking for stuff for our bedroom!

Share A Laugh Sunday

I love this video. It's from one of my favorite tv shows, Wretched TV.

It's funny, yet such a great demonstration on how our prayers probably sound to our Lord.

Enjoy!

Western Days Parade 2013

Saturday was our little town's annual Western Day's Parade. This is a tradition my family attends every year.

We have our little spot under a nice big tree that we sit under every year. It's nice and shady and it's right on main street. It's perfect for the kids to wait for the bucket loads of candy they gather each year!

Here's Ethan waiting for the parade to start and showing a new gap in his teeth. He lost two teeth, right next to each other, last week.

I tried to take a pic of Mark and I and forgot the zoom was on. Totally a  mistake, but I liked the way it turned out.

Here's Emily. I really don't know what she's doing. She's kooky like that!

The parade had...

Beauty Queens

Classic Cars
Horses

Local Pool's Lifeguards shooting water guns... sheesh! I'm holding a camera people!

Politicians

Ummm... Pirates?

And more horses

Fire trucks and cheerleaders. We are in Texas!

We had a great time and enjoyed time with family. We even had an aunt from Mississippi and an uncle from Tennessee come down and join us for the parade and more family came down that evening for a wonderful visit.

And as always, a classic picture of my mom, Ethan and Emily with closed eyes!

Emily's Talent Show

Right before school let out, the Ethan and Emily's school held a talent show. Emily wanted to be in it so bad. I asked her what she wanted to do and she said she wanted to dance. I was a little apprehensive. I didn't think she would go through with it. But she was determined. She got her best friend, Emma involved and they came up with a dance routine and tried out.

When I got to the school to pick her up after the tryouts, they came running up with yellow pieces of paper saying they were picked for the talent show, just like in American Idol. So, for the next three afternoons, the girls practiced their routine. Emma's mom and I were more nervous than the girls!

We dressed them alike for the talent show and they were so cute.

But they did so good! They got up on stage and did their routine to the song Shake It Up and had a great time! We were so proud of them!

They were so proud of themselves, too! It's not easy getting up in front of a crowd and dancing your little heart out.

Me and the dancing stars!

Share A Laugh Sunday

Happy Father's Day! I hope everyone had a great day! I'm behind in my blogging, but I thought I'd share this with you!

Remember last month when my work held a Law Enforcement Memorial and Mark spoke there? Well the event made the paper. The front page to be exact.

And look who made the front page!

Ha! I finally make the front page of the paper and it's half of the back of me! Sheesh!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
